Residents living in and around the centre of Idle village were pleased to hear that the Council had refused planning permission for another restaurant on The Green in Idle.

"We have enough take-aways and restaurants," said David Ward, PPC for Bradford East and local Councillor. "We want the village to have a bigger variety of shops open during the day. We have asked the Council to address the litter being generated by customers outside the takeaways and some of the pubs and to take action to make sure they clean up outside their premises every day."

Meanwhile Local Councillors David Ward, Jeanette Sunderland and Ed Hall have reinvested some of the money from the sale of the airport back into The Green in Idle. The improvements, to be made in the Spring include new street furniture, a new roundabout at the bottom of the High Street, new benches and planting.

David said, "We are working hard to make sure the village is regularly cleaned and businesses are also doing their bit with new signs. Every little bit makes Idle a better place to live and work. If anyone has any other ideas - please let us know."
